NEWAYS’ CARBON OFFSET PROGRAM[ 2009-10-09 ]

Neways Healthy Homes - transforming the planet - one person, one home, one family and now 'one order' at a time.

In May 2008, in line with our Healthy Homes initiative, Managing Director Andy Kirss recognised the need to determine exactly what effects our carbon footprint was having on the environment.

"We needed to find out how much Neways Australia was contributing to the greenhouse effect and try to find ways to reduce this with the goal of achieving carbon neutral operations."

To this end, Carbon Planet* was contracted to complete a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions audit. Surprisingly, our net result was just under 1 000 tonnes/carbon dioxide equivalents. Considering the scope of our operations this was moderately low as compared to other similarly sized companies. As an environmentally conscious organisation we had for many years already put in place manufacturing and packaging initiatives which had proven to be effective.

Our aim now is to make ourselves carbon neutral and offset the 1 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions going into the atmosphere. Neways and Neways Distributors in Australia can achieve this by purchasing government certified carbon credits in the areas of reforestation, hydro schemes and the like.

How much do we need to contribute?

The good news is, if everyone contributes, only 13 cents (GST inclusive) per order is required (calculated on the number of orders placed last year).

Choosing to make this contribution means that from the time your order leaves the manufacturer's hands to when it reaches your doorstep, it is carbon neutral, and you are having a positive impact on global warming.

So, from now on, for online orders which now make up over 73% of all orders, the 13 cents will automatically be added to your order, should you select this option.

For faxed** and posted orders, you can add the 13 cents to your order and write Carbon contribution next to it so we can process it accordingly.

 We also want you to know that 100% of your contributions will be used to purchase carbon credits; Neways will make absolutely NO profit from your caring contributions.

Rob Slade tells it best!    “We poured one 375ml bottle of Fuel Treatment into the petrol tank of a Chrysler 300CSRT8 6. 1 ltr V8.   The petrol consumption before the Fuel Treatment (Petrol) was 14.2 ltrs per 100 kms.  Now it is 12.8 ltrs per 100 kms.”
